Copyright & content concerns
Updated October 28, 2026
ReadRex respects the rights of authors and publishers. Saving a link or keeping a private reading copy does not give permission to republish a work. Share recommendations in your own words and respect source restrictions and rights notices.
Send a copyright concern
Email aaroncbailey@gmail.com with the subject “ReadRex copyright notice.” Aaron Bailey reviews these requests. You do not need a ReadRex account.
This is our copyright contact. A Copyright Office designated-agent registration has not yet been confirmed; this page does not represent that registration is complete.
For a notice under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), include:
- Your physical or electronic signature as the rights holder or someone authorized to act for them.
- The work you believe is infringed, or a representative list if your notice concerns several works at one site.
- The material or link you want reviewed and enough information for us to locate it. Include the original URL and the ReadRex item or placement, if known. A screenshot may help, but do not include unrelated private information.
- Your contact details, including an address, telephone number and an email address where we can reach you.
- Your good-faith statement that the disputed use is not authorized by the rights holder, their agent or the law.
- A statement that your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner of the exclusive right at issue.
We review notices promptly and act expeditiously on valid notices to remove the identified material or disable access. We may ask for information needed to locate or assess it. A complaint is not, by itself, a finding that a reader infringed copyright. Please consider any applicable permission, exception or limitation before sending a notice.
Ask us to review a removal
If we remove material you supplied, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. You can reply to the copyright contact to explain a mistake. For a DMCA counter-notice, include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- The removed material and its location before removal.
- Your statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith that the removal resulted from a mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number. State that you consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Federal District Court for your address, or, if outside the United States, a judicial district where the service provider may be found. State that you will accept service of process from the original notice sender or their agent.
We forward a valid counter-notice, including the contact details it must contain, to the original claimant. Under the DMCA process, restoration occurs between 10 and 14 business days after receipt of a valid counter-notice unless we receive notice of a court action seeking to restrain the disputed activity. Separate service rules or a legal order may still require a restriction; we explain any separate basis.
Repeat infringement
ReadRex terminates participation in appropriate circumstances for account holders who repeatedly infringe copyright. We assess the circumstances, notices, responses, mistakes and withdrawals rather than treating every report as a proven violation. Restrictions may also be warranted for serious abuse. You may ask the copyright contact to review a restriction. Restoring an account does not automatically republish withdrawn recommendations.
How we handle information
We use notices, counter-notices and review records to handle the concern, communicate with the parties and meet legal obligations. We may share relevant notices with the affected reader, claimant or legal advisers when needed for that process. Do not send passwords or unrelated private reading notes. We retain records only as needed for the dispute, repeat-infringer enforcement and applicable legal obligations.
Private reading copies are separate from friends’ recommendations. Previously downloaded text can remain on an offline device; we cannot promise remote deletion from every device.
For trademark or branding concerns, use the same contact and explain the placement and requested correction. For harassment or spam, use the item’s Report option or Help & support.
