Good recommendations start with your people.

A thoughtful recommendation can begin with a simple reason: “This made me think of our conversation.” ReadRex gives those finds a shared place while keeping your reading progress and private notes yours.

Start with people you know

Find a friend by their username or invitation link and send a connection request. They approve the request before you can see each other’s shared shelves.

Friends in ReadRex means approved connections. It does not mean everyone on the internet.

Choose what belongs on your shared shelves

Each saved item has its own visibility setting. Friends lets approved friends browse that item on your Up next or Finished shelf. Only me keeps it private.

New saves default to Only me and Up next. You can choose a Friends default in preferences. Your Finished list is reading history; Recommended contains explicit endorsements. Your private notes and tags stay private even when the item is visible to friends.

Make the recommendation explicit

A visible shelf item is not automatically a recommendation. Use the recommendation option when you want to recommend a find. Add a short comment about why it matters to you or who might enjoy it.

Reading, rating and finishing do not automatically recommend an item. You can recommend something before finishing it, and finish something without recommending it.

Keep your own reading history

When you save an item from a friend, it becomes part of your own library. Your progress, rating, reading dates and private notes belong to your copy. Saving their recommendation does not make their reading history yours.

Keep the new find on a read-later list you can return to, or save it as Finished if you already know it.

Change your mind when you need to

You can change an item’s visibility later. Choosing Only me also withdraws an existing recommendation. Material already downloaded on another reader’s device may remain there until that device syncs.

Start with one friend and one good find. A useful reading circle can grow through the things you choose to share.
