ReadRex.

Your reading room, at your own pace.

ReadRex brings the things you want to read, watch and listen to into one place, with recommendations from people and sources you choose.

Save something worth returning to

Add a link to an article, podcast, video or other good find, or look up a book. Keep the original link and add private notes or tags to help you remember why you saved it. If a title cannot be found automatically, you can enter it yourself.

ReadRex keeps a place for the link; the original content stays with its publisher. Publisher subscriptions, sign-ins and paywalls still apply. Books, podcasts and videos open in their original services.

Find what fits today

Discover opens first when you return signed in. Choose your interests, sources and formats, adjust the balance of friends and sources, and browse a finite batch of recommendations.

Up next is one navigation action away. It holds what you plan to return to, including things you have started. Filter by format or the time you have. Items with unknown durations have their own filter; ReadRex does not assume they are short.

Move an item to Finished when you complete it. Opening a link does not finish it automatically. Books can also have optional start and finish dates.

Choose what your friends see

Connections require approval. Friends visibility means your approved friends can browse an item on your shelf. Only me keeps the item private. New captures start privately on Up next. You can change the default for new saves in Reading & feed preferences. Finished is your reading history; Recommended contains only your explicit endorsements.

A shelf item and a recommendation are separate choices. Reading, rating or finishing never recommends an item automatically. When you choose to recommend something, you can add a comment about why it is worth someone’s time.

Private notes and tags stay private, even on items visible to friends. Choosing Only me also withdraws an existing recommendation. Material already downloaded on another reader’s device can remain there until it syncs.

Use it on the web

Open ReadRex in your desktop or mobile browser. On iPhone or iPad, Safari’s Share menu lets you add the website to your Home Screen. A native iOS app is in development; it is not yet available in the App Store.
